Our professional supervision sessions are provided by Tara (they/them) who is an Accredited Social Worker and Sex Therapist, and is registered with both the Australian Association of Social Workers & Society of Australian Sexologists.

My supervision style is supportive, practical and above all, no bullshit. I believe that in order for us to show up effectively in caring roles, we need someone to be on our team cheering for us, whilst at the same time, holding us accountable with kindness and compassion.

My practice is deeply rooted in Neurodivergent-Affirming Strengths-Based Practice, Anti-Oppressive Practice, Trauma-Informed Approach, Person-Centred Approach, Feminist (Queer & Trans Inclusive) Theory, Harm Reduction Approach and Systems Theory.

I have three years experience as a Social Worker in the following roles:

  • Case Management & Counselling - NFP Sector - Supporting young LGBTQIA+ people at high risk of domestic violence, homelessness, self harm and suicidality.

  • Group Facilitation - NFP Sector & Private Practice - Facilitating social groups for Autistic & ADHD'ers across the lifespan.

  • Capacity Building Social Work & Support Work - Disability Sector (NDIS) - Supporting people living with psychosocial, intellectual and learning and physical disabilities to navigate social welfare systems, build functional capacity, engage with community and understand our human rights.

  • Counselling - Private Practice - Providing counselling and therapeutic support utilising neurodivergent-affirming therapeutic modalities. Specialising in working with Autistic & ADHD'ers, queer & trans folks, and folks seeking support around sexuality, intimacy and healthy relationships.

Professional supervision with me can look like...

  • Mastering Affirming Practice: Learning how to provide affirming, inclusive and evidence and lived experienced based support to LGBQTIA+ community members and Autistic & ADHD'ers.

  • Unpacking Challenges/Ethical Dilemmas: Unpacking specific challenges, ethical dilemmas and supporting complex decision making.

  • Workplace Support: Navigating professional interpersonal or inter-office dynamics, larger systemic issues in your organisation and sector, and understanding your rights in the workplace.

  • Blending Theories into Practice: Gaining a fundamental understanding of what it means to utilise evidence-based theories in your practice (eg. Trauma-Informed Approach, Person-Centered Approach).

  • Role Clarity: Figuring out exactly what your role is, what your scope of practice is, and how to articulate these to staff members, stakeholders and clients.

  • Personal Wellbeing & Boundaries: Learning about vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout in caring roles, and how to cope with these when they come up. Also learning how to create and maintain personal and professional boundaries to promote sustainability in caring roles longer term.

  • Lived Experience Integration: Reflecting on how to ethically and effectively integrate your own lived experience and self-disclosure into your practice.

  • Private Practice: Navigating setting up your own private practice whilst still sticking to your values in this capitalist hellscape.

I am able to provide professional supervision to:

  • New Grad Social Workers

  • New Grad Human Service Professionals

  • Established Social Work & Human Service Professionals

  • Support, Peer and Lived Experience Workers

  • NDIS Support Coordinators & Psychosocial Recovery Coaches
