This webinar is for helping professionals and parents who want to learn how to have these tricky conversations in a sex-positive way!

The thought of discussing porn with your teen (or teenagers that you are supporting professionally) can feel incredibly overwhelming. We aren't taught how to broach the subject, so often we find ourselves relying on our own experiences and feelings about porn when these conversations arise.

This webinar, led by an Accredited Social Worker & Sex Therapist, provides a space to unpack our internal and societal biases around porn, and offers a reflective and sex-positive framework to have these conversations with teenagers that we are supporting - whichever capacity that might be.

Here is what this webinar will cover:

🧩 Key Definitions – Establishing a shared understanding of the language surrounding porn and sexuality.
😨 Why is Porn Hard to Talk About? – Exploring the fear, anxiety, and parental worries that make this topic so challenging.
📱 What Does Accessing Free Porn Look Like? – Understanding what teenagers are seeing when people talk about porn online.
🪞 Challenging Our Internal Biases – A look at our own preconceptions and how they shape the way we approach this subject.
⚖️ Porn, Age and the Law – A breakdown of the Australian state and federal legislation surrounding teenagers, sex, consent, sexting and watching porn.
💬 Critical Reflection & Porn Literacy – Strategies for shifting the conversation from porn being labelled as 'bad' and 'wrong' to critical, reflective thinking.
🎭 What is Ethical Porn? A Former Sex Worker’s Perspective – Understanding what ethical porn actually is, from the lived experience of a former sex worker.
🟢 "Should I Be Worried If...?"– Practical guidance on what behaviours around porn and masturbating are normal, versus when might be opportunities to reach out for additional support.

Duration: 1 hr, 4 minutes

A note on the age verification restrictions that came into effect March 9 2026:

As you may already know, popular tube sites such as PornHub, RedTube etc (all owned by Aylo) have responded to the new eSafety Commissioner’s Age-Restricted Material Codes by blocking access to users located in Australia entirely, unless they already had an account with the sites. This can be easily bypassed, but does impact the recording of the 'free porn landscape' aspect of the webinar, as it now takes more steps than simply clicking 'I am over the age of 18' on these websites. FYI - the onus is on the website providers themselves to pay for and implement age verification software, so we may see other more popular websites going down the route of region blocking instead of implementing the software. Age-verification software also poses very real threats to data privacy and sending young people down less regulated avenues to access porn.
